Mountain Pointe GoalsGoal 1: Rigor and Relevance will be integrated into departmental instructional strategies as well as the faculty evaluation process in order to develop a school-wide comprehensive assessment system through the utilization of the Professional Learning Communities model.
Goal 2: Mountain Pointe’s staff/faculty will engage in activities that will promote and sustain relationships among students, parents, and fellow colleagues. Goal 3: Current technology will be a continued focal point at Mountain Pointe by integrating technological necessities of departments. |
Social Studies Department Goals1. Writing: Every Social Studies Class will write four essays (1 of which is a DBQ) in every year long class. Semester-long classes will write at least one essay. Writing will be tied to Common Core Standards:
a. 9-10.W.4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience b. 9-10.W.5: Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach, focusing on addressing what is most significant for a specific purpose and audience. c. 9-10.W.7: Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects to answer a question or solve a problem; narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate; synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation. d. 9-10.L.2: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard capitalization, punctuation and spelling when writing. e. S-ID: Summarize, represent, and interpret data on a single count or measurement variable. Interpreting Graphs will be incorporated into our DBQ’s. 2. Reading: Every SS class will incorporate at least 10 outside readings per semester for the class. a. 9-10.RL.1: Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. b. 9-10.SL.2: Oral Presentation/Class Discussion: SS classes will integrate multiple sources of information presented in diverse media or formats evaluating the credibility and accuracy of each source. Students will create two presentations per year in semester-long classes. c. Technology: SS classes will use and introduce new modes of technology at least five times per semester. 3. Staff Development: Each teacher will attend a workshop, training, etc and will share and collaborate with the Department. |
